  • Technical Information

    Sensitiser

    • Ensure contents of bottle are added
    • Ensure the bottle is washed out correctly
    • Mix sensitiser with a third more of lukewarm water - SHAKE AND ADD REPEAT and then stir emulsion
    • It is recommended the sensitised emulsion is left to degas for an hour after sensitising to allow encapsulated air to evaporate - air bubbles in the emulsion cause pinholes in the stencil

    Storage

    • Unsensitised emulsion can be stored for one year but is sensitive to heat and high humidity of 50-60%
    • Sensitised emulsion must be kept cool asnd in the dark. The storage time depends on the type of screen emulsion - usually 4-6 weeks

    Drying

    • The stencil must be completely dry before exposure otherwise it loses light sensitivity and under exposure occurs. In case of high relative humidity, drying with warm air immediately before exposure is the necessary. The maximum air temperature for drying should not exceed 40°C otherwise the stencil has a tendency to react.
    • Horizontal drying uses gravity to keep emulsion on the printing side of the screen and helps the wet layer to dry smoothly
    • For extremely long print runs, an additional coat of emulsion applied to the squeegee side after drying of the first coats can improve the durability of the screen
    • The first coats of emulsion must be completely dry before additional coats  are applied
    • These additional coats of emulsion will require additional exposure time
